Together with Birgit Ecker I initiated »Stadtschrift – Verein zur Sammlung, Bewahrung und Dokumentation historischer Fassadenbeschriftungen« (Urban Signs – an association for the collection, preservation and documentation of historic façade signs), with the intention of promoting awareness for the typographical heritage of the city.
Our initiative pursues the objective of preventing unique signs from being scrapped and, consequently, making them accessible to the public once again. Since, as typographically and from the aspect of craftsmanship, they convey values which ought not to be allowed to disappear from our daily life.
Parts of our collection can be seen in Vienna at our vertical open air museums in Mollardgasse 8 and Ludwig-Hirsch-Platz, as well as in our showroom in Liniengasse 2a.
Past activities include an exhibition in »Treffpunkt Lerchenfeld« from November 2013 to March 2014 and various collaborations with cultural institutions, such as the Wien Museum or the Austrian Museum of Applied Arts.
