In response to the booming business of energetic paraphernalia, and the spirituality it supposedly promotes, Pichler went in search of insight into the products and services making promises of salvation. For a period of two years, he immersed himself into the scene by pretending to be a fanatic esotericist. He joined online forums, attended esotericist fairs and gatherings, familiarized himself with relevant theories. This enabled him to gain an inside view of the world of esotericism, filled with remote healing, aura sprays and unicorn essences.
The irrationality of these products becomes apparent through the attached marketing flyers. The awkward visual language of this business is paid tribute by total freefont-anarchy, but none of the texts are made up. The enclosed supplement provides behind-the-scenes-information about esotericist theories and popular phenomena that circulate on online forums, and how they were re-staged herein.
